Privacy policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how TomatoShop (“TomatoShop,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the TomatoShop iOS application and related services (the “App”). TomatoShop is a shopping and discovery app where people can browse a personalized feed, save items they love, and visit shopping sites.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. The App is intended for users in the United States.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile details such as your username, display name, and profile photo.
- Content and activity. Items you like or save, boards or collections you create, your search queries (including image searches), saved searches, and your profile.
- Communications with us. Information you provide when you contact support or respond to surveys.
2.2 Information from connected services
- Pinterest. If you choose to connect your Pinterest account, we receive information you authorize Pinterest to share with us, such as your profile information and boards or pins, to personalize your feed and import your saved items. You can disconnect Pinterest at any time in the App’s settings, and we will stop receiving new data from Pinterest.
- Email connection. If you choose to connect an email account or sign in with an email-based service, we receive your email address and the information you authorize that service to share. We do not read the contents of your personal email beyond what is needed to provide the feature you enabled.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Location information. With your permission, we collect your device’s approximate or precise location to show you relevant items and shops and improve recommendations. You can turn location access off at any time in your iOS Settings; the App will continue to work without it.
- Device and usage information. Device type, operating system version, app version, language, IP address, device identifiers (such as your advertising identifier, where permitted), and how you interact with the App — for example, screens viewed, items tapped, searches, and session length.
- Analytics and tracking technologies. We and our service providers use software development kits (SDKs), cookies, and similar technologies to collect usage and diagnostic information, measure performance, detect crashes, and understand how features are used. On iOS, tracking across other companies’ apps and websites occurs only if you allow it through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App, including the shopping feed, search, saved items, and saved-search notifications;
- Personalize your experience, such as recommending items based on your activity, saves, location, and connected Pinterest content;
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends, fix bugs, and develop new features;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and violations of our terms and policies;
- Communicate with you, including service announcements, support responses, and — with your consent where required — marketing messages;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With other users. If the App includes social features, your public profile and public boards or saves may be visible to other users.
- Service providers. We share information with vendors that perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, and content delivery. They may use the information only to provide those services to us, and we require that any third party with whom we share your information provides the same or equal protection of your data as stated in this Policy.
- Advertising and analytics partners. If we use third-party analytics or advertising tools, identifiers and usage data may be shared with those partners. Under some state privacy laws this may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and you have the right to opt out (see Section 6).
- Connected services. If you connect Pinterest or an email service, information is exchanged with that service as you direct. Their privacy policies govern their handling of your data.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TomatoShop, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If TomatoShop is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Your choices
- Location. Enable or disable location access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Tracking. Control cross-app tracking through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt and in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Connected accounts. Disconnect Pinterest or a connected email service in the App’s settings at any time.
- Push notifications. Manage notifications in iOS Settings.
- Account deletion. You can delete your account in the App or by contacting us at the address in Section 12. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we must retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
6. Your U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, state privacy laws (including the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended) may give you the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Right to know/access. Request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you, including the categories of information, sources, purposes, and third parties with whom it was shared.
- Right to delete. Request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct. Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out. Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising. We honor opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control where required by law. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal; because there is no common standard for interpreting DNT, we do not currently respond to DNT signals, but we honor the choices described in this Policy.
- Right to limit sensitive information. Where applicable, limit our use of sensitive personal information (such as precise location) to what is necessary to provide the App.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 12. We will verify your request using your account email address. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and we will explain the outcome of your appeal.
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing the App and the purposes permitted by applicable law.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. We retain certain information after account deletion where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and enforcing our agreements. Analytics data is retained in aggregated or de-identified form where possible. When you delete your account, your information is removed from our main systems promptly; because we maintain backups, it may take up to 90 days for information to fully disappear from all of our systems. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong password and keep your account credentials confidential.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us. Users under 18 may request removal of content they posted by contacting us at the address in Section 12.
10. Third-party websites
Because TomatoShop helps you discover products sold elsewhere, the App directs you to third-party websites where items are actually available for purchase. We do not control those websites or how they collect personal information, and any purchase you make happens on their site under their terms and privacy policy. Product images shown in the App may be loaded from the websites that host the product pages, and those websites may collect data about how the images are loaded. We strongly encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit, including Pinterest if you connect it. TomatoShop expressly disclaims responsibility for the privacy practices of third-party websites linked from the App.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email before the changes take effect, and we will update the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
